Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic part time administrator to provide support to the Head Gardener at the charity’s award winning, hospital garden project at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre at Salisbury District Hospital. This high-profile garden, designed by Cleve West, has had widespread publicity and makes a huge difference to the wellbeing of people facing life changing injuries and long stays in hospital.

The role will include general administration duties and co-ordination of volunteers and is a part-time post for 10 hours a week over two days, one to cover the Head Gardener’s day off and the other to cross over.  

This job would suit someone who is efficient and organised, adaptable, friendly and loves spreadsheets, as well as gardens! You will join a team of other garden administrators across the growing charity’s five projects. Working closely with the head gardener you will be involved in:

● Volunteer coordination and recruitment

● Support the Head Gardener with administrative duties

● Events support

● Garden tour organisation

● Purchasing necessary supplies for the garden

● Banking donations

● Posters and marketing around the garden

● Managing merchandise

 

Essential skills

● Lots of initiative and drive

● IT competence and agility and experience with using Microsoft 365 programmes

● Administrative experience at least 2 years

● Great communication skills

● Adaptable, friendly and a good sense of humour

 

Desirable

● Volunteer coordination

● Digital photography

● Events organising

● Love of gardens
