Horatio’s Garden is an independent registered charity, reliant on public support. Any amount, no matter how great or small, helps to ensure that Horatio’s Gardens will always be there for those who need it most.

Each Horatio’s Garden is carefully designed by a designer and architect with specialist teams to be accessible and sustainable. Everything is of exceptional quality to be long lasting in the high use setting.

It costs £150,000 a year to care for each of the gardens. This includes the part-time salaries of the garden teams, training and recruiting volunteers, garden maintenance such as plants and compost, the arts programme activities and refreshments for the garden room.

“The difference that Horatio’s Garden has made to me is immense. The garden is so full of life that it gives you hope. It’s helped with my wellbeing and with my recovery. I don’t know where I’d be without it.”

Our most substantial income stream comes from the charitable support of numerous trusts and foundations across the UK.

Our largest single funder is the National Garden Scheme, who have generously donated £675,620 to date, with a commitment to fund a contribution to all future gardens. In 2024, the National Garden Scheme donated a further £90,000 to the charity. Every summer, Horatio’s Gardens open for the National Garden Scheme as part of its programme to offer unique visitor access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.
