Thank you to Hugh James

Hugh James has been a wonderful supporter of Horatio’s Garden Wales from the very beginning, before our garden at The Welsh Spinal Cord Injury and Neuro Rehabilitation Centre in University Hospital Llandough, Cardiff was designed and built.

For over a year, Hugh James was our Regional Garden Partner for Horatio’s Garden Wales. The team regularly volunteered in the garden, helping Head Gardener Owen Griffiths, Garden Administrator Helen Johnson, and the whole team, as well as supporting events and activities for people spending time in the garden.

Recent events in Horatio’s Garden Wales have included a treasure hunt and afternoon tea for patients and their families, which the Hugh James team organised. This was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended the event, with plenty of people commenting on how lovely the atmosphere in the garden was and how delicious all the sweet treats were too!

As well as supporting our work in the garden, the Hugh James team are active members of our Wales Fundraising Group and frequently get involved with charity fundraising initiatives and events.

The Hugh James team will be continuing to support the charity by donating and fundraising.  This October, some of the Hugh James team will be taking on the challenge of the Cardiff Half Marathon for Horatio’s Garden Wales, whilst Hugh James has also committed to being a Corporate Friend of our garden in Wales.

Bethan Cummings, Director of Fundraising, said: “We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone at Hugh James. We are truly grateful for your support of Horatio’s Garden Wales, which has made such a difference to so many people’s lives. It has been wonderful to work with the whole team throughout the past few years and to see the many ways in which you have supported the charity. Hugh James have made a huge difference, and we are so thrilled that you will be continuing your support of the garden as a Corporate Friend.”

Cari Sowden-Taylor, Partner and Joint Head of the National Serious Injury Team at Hugh James, said:  “I can remember attending meetings with Olivia Chapple and the team at Horatio’s Garden before the Welsh garden was built. Throughout lock down the team at Hugh James set a huge running challenge to raise as much money as possible for Horatio’s Garden and to see the beautiful garden now being enjoyed by patients and families at the Welsh Spinal Cord Injury and Neuro Rehabilitation Centre is heartwarming. Horatio’s Garden is a truly special charity and we are proud to continue to support as a Corporate Friend, volunteers and to help with fundraising.”
