Some of you will know of the ‘My Favourite Place’ feature in Garden News magazine and this week the contributor is none other than our very own Head Gardener of Horatio’s Garden South West, Stephen Hackett.
Having been interviewed by Naomi Slade a few weeks ago, the big reveal is that Stephen’s favourite place is Blickling Hall, a stunning estate in Norfolk now owned by the National Trust.
As their website says, ‘nobody ever forgets their first sight of Blickling’ and Stephen’s piece attests to that. Having repeatedly returned to the Jacobean mansion and the magnificent gardens and parkland on family holidays since his children were small, it’s evident from the article that the spell cast by this magical place remains strong.
Much of Stephen’s appreciation for Blickling Hall lies in the phenomenal garden design and the amazing array of planting, which have no doubt inspired his own horticultural choices both at home and in Horatio’s Garden for many recent years.
If you’re interested in finding out more about Stephen and discovering some of his seasoned gardening advice, you may like to read his blog, The Constant Gardener, whilst you can also see what he’s up to on a day-to-day basis by following him on Twitter.
