Proudly announcing HCC Solicitors as the Regional Garden Partner of Horatio’s Garden Midlands

We are thrilled to announce that long-term supporter of Horatio’s Garden Horwich Coghlan Solicitors (HCC) has become our Regional Garden Partner for Horatio’s Garden Midlands. They are an award-winning legal firm with offices in Manchester, London and Birmingham.

HCC has long been a great supporter of Horatio’s Garden. Their team have volunteered in our gardens in London and Stoke Mandeville and also recently donated a voucher for a champagne afternoon tea for two to our Prize Draw.

HCC already works closely with our friends at the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), showing their dedication to improving the lives of everyone impacted by spinal cord injury.

Some of their team recently joined us for a tour of Horatio’s Garden Midlands led by Head Gardener Alex Law. The team got to learn more about the garden and see first-hand the difference the garden makes to patients, their families, NHS staff and others spending time in the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. The garden’s beautiful magnolia tree was in full bloom as Alex talked through the key design features of the garden.

The HCC team members visiting the garden were Joanna Mervyn, Head of Partnerships & Charities; Kelly Hutton, Partner; and Mark Copley, Senior Associate. Over the next year, the garden will be supported by more of their team who will be regularly volunteering in the garden and helping with garden events.

Katie Tait, CEO of Horatio’s Garden, said: “We are thrilled that HCC are our new Regional Garden Partner for Horatio’s Garden Midlands. We are fortunate that HCC have been long-term supporters of the charity and it’s wonderful they will now be supporting our garden in Oswestry. We very much look forward to the next year ahead.”

Further commenting on the partnership,

Martin James, Director at HCC Solicitors, said:

“We are delighted to support Horatio’s Garden to help to deliver more support to patients and families in NHS spinal injury centres. Horatio’s garden is a fantastic charity and the HCC team is passionate about helping people in as many ways as we can throughout their rehabilitation journey.

“The value of being able to temporarily leave a hospital ward and enjoy some tranquility in a beautiful outdoor space makes a huge difference to patients’ wellbeing.”

Kelly Hutton, Partner at HCC Solicitors, said:

“As a specialist serious injury law firm, we understand the devastating affects spinal cord injuries can have on individuals and their families. These gardens make a positive impact on rehabilitation both physically and mentally. They provide an important space for patients to enjoy activities and meet with friends and family during a very difficult time.”

Mark Copley, Senior Associate at HCC Solicitors said:

“We are proud of our relationship with Horatio’s Garden and we are excited about our partnership with the Oswestry garden. These bespoke outdoor spaces provided by Horatio’s Garden are an important part of supporting the rehabilitation journey for people who have been very seriously injured.”

Joanna Mervyn, Head of Partnerships & Charities at HCC, added:

“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Horatio’s Garden this year. Our team recognises the important work undertaken by the charity in supporting people who have suffered serious life-changing injuries. The gardening and event activities make a huge difference to both patients and their families. Our team is very much looking forward to getting involved.”

We are grateful to HCC for becoming the Regional Garden Partner of Horatio’s Garden Midlands and for taking the time to visit the garden. We look forward to seeing how the garden will bloom in the following year, with the support and assistance of HCC.
