We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Horatio’s Garden Party at The Prince: Part 2 has raised a brilliant total of over £8,100!
With close to 300 guests joining us to party the night away, there was a fantastic vibe throughout the whole evening. Everyone who came along shared how much they enjoyed the event, as many relished the opportunity to catch up with good friends whilst giving back to Horatio’s Garden.
Indeed, the kindness and generosity of all those who attended has already started helping thousands of people affected by spinal injury spending time in our gardens across the UK right now and will continue to do so for many years to come.
As ever, the evening’s speeches brought home just how vital fundraising is to enabling the charity to make a difference. Hosted by Jack Mannings, a former patient who spent a great deal of time in Horatio’s Garden South West during his stay at Salisbury District Hospital, he spoke on stage with two members of the Horatio’s Cycle team; Robin Butler, one of Horatio Chapple’s best friends and a long-time supporter of the charity, along with Toby Morgan-Grenville, a former patient who also appreciated Horatio’s Garden South West enormously whilst he spent time in the spinal centre in Salisbury.
The two shared memories of the Horatio’s Cycle, which took place earlier this summer and saw the team of five travelling a total of 1100 miles to all 11 NHS spinal injury centres in just 11 days. They saw first-hand the marked contrast between the spinal centres with a Horatio’s Garden and those we have yet to build in, something that both Robin and Toby remembered and shared with the captive audience.
Together, the team raised over £80,000 for the charity, with their stories and their achievement visibly inspiring everyone in the room.
A phenomenal number of raffle entries were ventured on the night too, with everyone in the room keen to try their luck to win one of our exciting prizes. Among them was a Champagne Tea for Two at The Dorchester, Whisky Tasting for Four at Black Rock, A Free Friday Night Stay at The Queen’s Head and an intriguing mystery prize, which turned out to be a £10 Greggs Voucher, well received by the brilliant Bolt Burdon Kemp team!
We’re enormously grateful to everyone who supported the event, including all the incredible staff at The Prince, our generous sponsors Incipio Group, CBC Partnership and FastPrint, as well as our fantastic committee, who most definitely know how to party with the best of them!
It truly was a great night and we’re already excited for their next event.
