We were absolutely delighted to today discover that Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville has been shortlisted as a Main Categories Finalist in The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) Awards 2021!

The SGD is the only professional association for garden designers, with its many national and international Members representing the very best of the industry. It was established by a group of eminent landscape designers in 1981 and since then they have been championing excellence in garden design and support their Members to train, work and develop, ensuring the profession continues to maintain its highest standards.

As such, the news that our Stoke Mandeville sanctuary is one of just 20 gardens to be chosen as a SGD Awards 2021 finalist is a real testament to the garden’s acclaimed, RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winning designer, Joe Swift, as well as to all those who have carefully nurtured the haven since it opened in September 2018. This includes current Head Gardener, Amy Moffett, former Head Gardener, Jacqui Martin-Löf and every single one of our brilliant, greenfingered volunteers.

With the SGD Awards Ceremony set to take place on Friday 15th October, we’re already incredibly excited to discover more about the stunning oases featuring alongside Horatio’s Garden in the finalists’ category. The evening also holds additional significance for the charity, as last September the SGD kindly announced that the occasion would be dedicated to supporting us, helping to raise awareness amongst the garden design community of the ways in which our projects help people affected by spinal injury.

It’s an absolute joy to see Horatio’s Garden, Joe, Amy, Jacqui and the whole Stoke Mandeville team acknowledged with this prestigious accolade and we are enormously grateful to The SGD and The SGD 2021 Awards for all their continued support.
