Horatio’s Garden is an official charity partner of the Belvoir Castle Clay Shoot 2024

Horatio’s Garden was thrilled to be one of the official charity beneficiaries of the Belvoir Castle Clay Shoot, taking place on Saturday 27 April 2024.

This year’s event celebrated 15 years of the Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot at Belvoir Castle. Belvoir have partnered with many amazing charities during this time, raising money for a wide number of important causes. The charities supported this year both focus on improving the lives of those who have experienced life-changing injuries: the Matt Hampson Foundation, who support beneficiaries with spinal or brain injuries at ‘The Get Busy Living Centre’, providing rehabilitation support and a social hub following discharge from hospital; and Horatio’s Garden, who nurture the wellbeing of people with spinal injuries by creating stunning gardens in UK spinal injury centres.

Speaking about the partnership, Dr Olivia Chapple, Founder of Horatio’s Garden, said: “Spinal cord injury can happen to any one of us, at any time. The results are devastating, not only for patients but also their families. Following their injuries patients are treated in specialist spinal injury centres for months, often with little access to the outside. Horatio’s Garden is changing that. We are so grateful to everyone involved in the Belvoir Castle Charity Clay Shoot – your donations and support will help to create a lasting legacy for people with spinal injuries.”

The day began with guests arriving at 8.15am, before enjoying a communal breakfast and the chance to enter the charity sweepstake. Teams departed to take part in the clay pigeon shoot that was the focal point of the day, involving shooting at special flying targets made of clay.

The day also featured a silent auction, with a wide range of prizes generously donated. These included, among others:

  • A two-hour garden design consultation with landscape designer Charlie Hawkes
  • Two breakfast tickets for RHS Chelsea Flower Show
  • A three night stay in the Duchess’s Welsh holiday home in Aberdovey
  • A private tour of Doddington Hall and the famous Uniform Collection

The day was a huge success, with a significant amount of money and awareness raised for both of the benefitting charities.

We are so grateful to everyone who took part in the day, and to the team at Belvoir Castle for choosing to make Horatio’s Gardens one of the charity partners of the event.
