Over the course of the April Bank Holiday weekend patients and their loved ones enjoyed the glorious sunny weather across the UK in each of our beautiful gardens.

Thankfully the sun stayed shining throughout the four days, so everyone got the chance to partake in a variety of seasonal celebrations!

On Good Friday Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville held their Easter Party which was a phenomenal success. Over 100 guests joined in with the fun and spent an afternoon relishing a variety of Easter treats including some scrumptious sandwiches, delightful cakes and tea. Of course there was also an abundance of Easter eggs and an exciting Treasure Hunt, which delighted both children and adults alike!

Over £170 was raised by volunteer Fiona’s plant stand and we are so grateful to all our Stoke Mandeville volunteers who helped over the course of the weekend. Thank you to Anna Lockwood too for coordinating everything perfectly, and to Head Gardener Jacqui for helping to organise the event. You all ensured that patients, their loved ones and staff had a very happy, sunny, and delicious afternoon.

It was Glasgow’s turn to mark the occasion on Easter Saturday and Head Gardener Sallie, Volunteer Coordinator Yvonne and a team of dedicated volunteers were on-hand to celebrate with patients, their families and their friends.

There was an excellent array of colourful cakes, all of which entered into the spirit of the season with some carefully placed chocolate eggs and bunny decorations! As the sun shone down on the party there were smiles all round as everyone took part in a joyous Easter Egg Hunt and enjoyed catching up with family and friends. We’re particularly grateful to a former patient who donated all these eggs especially for this year’s exciting event!

A fun, kind, and welcoming atmosphere permeated the garden throughout the afternoon. Our volunteers had the chance to make the most of the weather too, spending time chatting with patients and their guests amongst the many new and beautiful plants currently out in flower.

Horatio’s Garden Salisbury marked the end of the charity’s Easter Weekend in seasonal style on Easter Monday. Our volunteers were brilliant throughout the event, bringing with them a huge variety of gorgeous homemade sweet treats!

A number of patients attended, along with their families and friends, all of whom took part in the exciting Easter Egg Hunt which got the afternoon off to a cracking start. With 100 eggs hidden around the garden the crowd rose to the challenge and managed to bring back every single one – the chocolate reward for finding as many as possible was simply too good for anyone to resist!

With the hunt over the afternoon took a relaxing turn as guests gathered and settled to enjoy some live music from an incredibly talented young musician, George. Her acoustic sound echoed throughout the garden and was the perfect soundtrack for a calm afternoon amongst the tulips.

We hope you all had a lovely, happy Easter.
