Paying a visit to Horatio’s Garden London & South East, the lovely Gardeners’ World film crew soon helped Ashley to feel at ease in front of the cameras.
The feature, which appears approximately seven minutes into the programme, introduces Ashley as someone who’s always felt the power and positivity of nature. Pursuing this as a career has taken him all over the world, but most recently led him to becoming our brilliant Head Gardener in Horatio’s Garden London & South East.
Throughout the segment, Ashley talks about his horticultural journey so far and the benefits he feels from gardening each and every day. Those tuning in also had a chance to pick up on some of his top tips and planting combinations, all of which are appreciated by beneficiaries, volunteers and NHS staff alike in our London & South East sanctuary.
Ashley has long been an inspirational member of the charity’s team, but watching him have a personal opportunity to share his passion with millions of viewers was truly a pleasure.
Many of those watching kindly took to social media to share their appreciation of the piece, something Ashley acknowledged amongst his most recent Instagram posts, writing:
“I’m so grateful for the amazing amount of responses received after my appearance on @gardenersworldtv.
Thank you to everyone for your lovely messages, it’s been so touching to read them all.
Really have to thank the @gardenersworldtv crew who really made me feel comfortable in sharing my story, @horatiosgarden for supporting me and @tomstuartsmithstudio for creating the garden that I now care for.
And my biggest thanks to my family who nurtured this shy flower boy and encouraged him to bloom.
I hope you’ll enjoy the horticultural journey with me.”
We are enormously grateful to the Gardeners’ World team for giving Ashley this wonderful opportunity; echoing everyone else’s sentiments, it was a joy to watch.
