Pat May recently completed his Sprint Triathlon on St Annes Promenade in Lancashire and raised over £1000 for Horatio’s Garden Scotland! We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that Pat’s sporting challenge went well and the incredible amount of money raised will help us to keep supporting patients and their families in our beautiful garden.

Even more remarkably, Pat enjoyed his experience so much that he is now planning to do another Sprint Triathlon in Fleetwood in September. Pat’s experiences of the garden in Scotland after his son, Michael, suffered a spinal injury earlier this year have led him to be a fantastic fundraiser for the charity. When he takes on his second triathlon this year he will not only be fundraising for Scotland, but all our gardens throughout the UK.

Speaking of the Scotland garden he shared that, “The garden has been a fantastic space for Michael and the whole family.”

Michael is now adjusting to life at home and is planning to become the first wheelchair-user tree surgeon, an aspiration which Pat and the rest of the May family are determined to make a reality.

We are so grateful to Pat for fundraising for Horatio’s Garden and it’s lovely to hear that Michael is doing well too.

We look forward to hearing the next chapter of their story in September.
