Katie Newton has been lucky enough to be given a ballot in this year’s London Marathon and is generously using the race as an opportunity to raise money for Horatio’s Garden.
Unfortunately this year’s marathon has now been postponed to Sunday 4th October, in light of growing concerns regarding Coronavirus. However, Katie will be continuing to train for the event, so please keep supporting her by giving generously via her JustGiving page (linked below).
She decided to fundraise for the charity as a family friend was affected by spinal injury in February 2019. He has now been a patient in the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for several months, so Katie has seen first-hand the huge difference the garden has made to him and his family.
In addition, as Katie is a final year medical student in Sheffield, she has worked with patients in the spinal injury centre at Northern General Hospital. She shared that she can only imagine the difference a garden would make to patients and their loved ones here and was inspired by the charity’s mission to establish a Horatio’s Garden at all the 11 NHS spinal injury centres in the UK.
We’re so grateful to Katie for fundraising for us and hope everyone will give generously as she embarks on her marathon challenge.
