Craft for Christmas is all about you spreading a little festive cheer around your local community by creating all kinds of handmade gifts.

Naturally, everyone will have their preferred artistic medium, so we’re encouraging you to be as creative as you like in support of our winter fundraising campaign. Whether you’re a painter, sewer, potter, glassblower, jeweller, candle and soap maker, or general all-round crafter, now is the perfect chance to share your talents with your community and raise a little money for Horatio’s Garden.

Our fantastic volunteers are all getting involved too and already they’ve been busy creating lots of Yuletide treats, as well as sharing plenty of ideas that may help to get you started.

• Lavender bags

• Pin cushions

• Cafetiere covers

• Tea cosies

• Christmas wreaths

• Knitted flowers

• Homemade jams & chutneys

• Fabric bags for face masks (or anything you like!)

• Plant narcissus or hyacinth bulbs in seasonal pots

• Festive decorations

• Catnip mice

Of course, these are just to give you a little inspiration and the more crafty talents involved, the better!

As our festive fairs and markets have had to be cancelled this year as a result of Coronavirus, we sadly are unable to provide an outlet for all your handmade treasures. This is why we’re encouraging both you and our volunteer teams to find local fairs and markets (or to create your very own!) for everything you create, not to mention that the wonderful element of Craft for Christmas is that all your beautiful creations will bring joy to your nearby family, friends, neighbours and community.

You may also like to simply give your crafts to someone locally, or leave them as a surprise on their doorstep.

If you choose to bring a little merriment to someone this way, we would love it if you could add a little calling card to your gift asking that people text FESTIVE to 70490 to donate £5 to Horatio’s Garden. Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message.

As well as offering your loved ones and community the opportunity to buy (or donate in return for) some gorgeously unique gifts, your crafts will truly warm the hearts of both the giver and receiver, as they’ll know that their thoughtful token is helping people affected by spinal injuries this Christmas and beyond.

If you would like to get involved in Craft for Christmas, or have any questions, we’d love to hear from you! Please get in touch by emailing fundraise@horatiosgarden.org.uk or call 01722 326834.

As they say, there’s nothing quite like a handmade gift!
