We’ve been overwhelmed by how many of you have been involved in our Fabulous Summer Tea Party Week, despite it being in its infancy!
The latest stories have come from Christine Biondini, Olivia Hatrick, Jane Beresford and Ann and Clare Mannall, who threw Tea Parties in various places across the country this week.
Having been signed up by her son, Edward, Christine got in touch with us to say how much they enjoyed hosting their Fabulous Summer Tea Party. She spoke of how all her friends loved gathering together at her home in order to support the charity, and mentioned that they made incredibly short work of all the tea and cake!
Both Christine and Ed recently attended the Horatio’s Garden Chelsea Drinks Party and Secret Art Sale, which inspired them to get involved in the Week. Christine told us that “It was a privilege to be able to further support the charity and most importantly it provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the cause here in our community.”
It’s always lovely to hear that Horatio’s Garden is capturing the imagination of new supporters, and the incredible generosity of Christine’s friends and family helped her to raise a fantastic £250 for the charity.
Meanwhile in East Sussex, Olivia was hosting a colourful gathering for all her friends. With many wild summer flowers and brightly coloured cakes adorning her kitchen table, it was hard to believe it was raining just a few metres away!
Guests were hugely enthusiastic about Olivia’s event, with many heralding it as the ‘perfect English tea’ for a wonderful cause. The charity seems to have captured the hearts of guests, with everyone contributing to raise a phenomenal total of over £1,000 for our gardens.
We were also hugely impressed by Jane Beresford’s Tea Party, which was held in her stunning garden. The sun popped out from behind the clouds just in time for Jane’s first guests to arrive, and thankfully stayed shining throughout the afternoon!
Everyone was clearly enjoying the glorious weather, and the sweetly decorated gazebo offered guests a little shade as they indulged in many of the delicious cakes. Thanks to the kindness of Jane’s friends, her event raised a brilliant £755 which will help us continue to offer patients physical and mental support throughout their time in hospital.
Finally, mother and daughter, Ann and Clare Mannall, held Fabulous Summer Tea Parties respectively at their homes, inviting numerous friends to indulge in endless sweet treats. Both raised fantastic amounts and Clare was particularly proud of her 82-year old Mum, who did all the cooking, preparation and baking for her event. We think you’ll agree Ann made a phenomenal effort, which produced some truly fabulous results!
We couldn’t be more thrilled by the amount of money raised so far by all our brilliant Tea Party hosts and their guests. We never imagined that the first year of our Fabulous fundraiser would be so successful and we’ve loved hearing all of your tea-riffic stories throughout the week.
