We are delighted to share that long-term supporters Bolt Burdon Kemp (BBK) have recently committed to continue to be our Regional Garden Partner of Horatio’s Garden London & South East and Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville. It is truly fantastic to have the support of the BBK team, who have been involved in and supported lots of fantastic fundraising initiatives and activities in the gardens.
BBK have generously supported Horatio’s Garden for many years. Over the last year alone, BBK have supported a range of events, including a monthly coffee and cake afternoon for patients and their loved ones in our garden in London. The event is enormously popular and is a lovely way for beneficiaries to spend quality time with the people they care about, as well as getting to know other patients and families staying in the spinal centre.
This year BBK also helped us get ready for the Chelsea Flower Show. The BBK team helped to make over 200 lavender bags, which were then sold on our tradestand to raise vital funds for the charity.
Most recently, BBK held two fundraising events at their offices for Horatio’s Garden. Over 20 of the team enjoyed learning to monoprint alongside our volunteers. The BBK team also brought food from around the world and held a team lunch for the charity.
As well as being our wonderful Regional Garden Partner to our gardens in London and Stoke Mandeville, some of the BBK team are taking on the challenge of running in the Oxford Half Marathon and London Landmarks Half Marathon. We are so grateful for their continued support, and we will be cheering the team on every step of the way!
Bethan Cummings, Director of Fundraising at Horatio’s Garden, said: “It is wonderful to see the many ways in which Bolt Burdon Kemp supports Horatio’s Garden. The team are fantastic supporters of the charity, and it is great to see their enthusiasm and dedication in all they do. We very much look forward to the year ahead and are truly grateful for Bolt Burdon Kemp’s support, which helps us to continue to ensure the gardens are sanctuaries for our beneficiaries and their loved ones.”
Alex Dabek, Partner at BBK, said: “It is hard to believe that it has now been over seven years since Bolt Burdon Kemp first began supporting Horatio’s Garden. These years have been truly wonderful, and we feel incredibly privileged to have been able to contribute to a cause so closely aligned with our Spinal Injury team’s commitment to supporting the wider Spinal Cord Injury community. As spinal injury specialists, we deeply understand the unique challenges faced by patients in spinal injury rehabilitation centres, making our partnership with Horatio’s Garden all the more meaningful.
“We are especially honoured to continue in our role as Regional Garden Partners of Horatio’s Garden London & South East and Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville for the third consecutive year. It has been an absolute joy to witness the charity grow from strength to strength, creating more gardens and supporting countless patients in the spinal centres during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. We recognise the immense value these tranquil and beautiful spaces bring to patients’ rehabilitation and well-being.
“We feel enormously fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated head gardeners, staff, and volunteers in the gardens at London and Stoke Mandeville. Many of our team members regularly volunteer in the gardens and witness firsthand the profound difference Horatio’s Garden makes in the lives of spinally injured patients and their families. The ability for patients to engage in a variety of activities including horticultural therapy, art classes and live music events has been nothing short of fantastic, not only greatly enhancing their rehabilitation experience but also improving mental and physical health outcomes.
“Looking ahead, we are excited about our continuing collaboration with Horatio’s Garden and are keen to provide support in every possible way including our own fundraising initiative, where several members of the BBK team will take on the challenge of running in the Oxford Half Marathon and the Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of Horatio’s Garden this October. We are excited to see the charity’s impact grow even further in the years to come, knowing that their work will make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by spinal injuries.”
