BBC News Wales got in touch with Amanda after being inspired by her remarkable story. She suffered a spinal cord injury as a result of a cycling accident six years ago, which resulted in her being paralysed from the chest down. After spending over six months in the Welsh Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centre at Rookwood Hospital, she returned home to her wonderful family and continued to pursue her passion for cycling on a recumbent bike.
It was this bike that led to Amanda completing her 150-mile at-home cycle this summer. Having spent so much time in hospital herself, she truly understands the immense importance of our new project and firmly believes that it will have an enormously positive impact on patients and their loved ones adjusting to life with a spinal cord injury.
So far Amanda has raised over £3,000 for Horatio’s Garden Wales, which is an enormous achievement! We are so grateful to both Amanda and to everyone who has donated so far, but there’s still time to give whatever you can by simply clicking the link below. Thank you so much.
