We’re absolutely thrilled to share the news that the very first Horatio’s Garden Summer Art Auction has successfully raised £68,000 for the charity!
Over 60 of the UK’s leading, emerging and rising artists supported the event, including Maggi Hambling, Sarah Maple, Tim Burton, Christabel Blackburn, Kate Malone, Rob and Nick Carter, Patrick Morales-Lee, Dawn Beckles, Keith Jansz, Hitomi Hosono, Sean Henry, Vanessa Jackson, William Wilkins, Miranda Creswell, Lucy Kent and Alastair Faulkner.
Featuring a variety of new and recent works, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics and photography, all ranging in price from £300 – £30,000, there was something to tempt everyone.
As such, a whole host of our incredible supporters spent the Bank Holiday weekend bidding on their chosen pieces right down to the two-week event’s final seconds. It certainly made for exciting watching, and we know that both the artists and our winners were delighted to be part of the fundraising action!
With the Summer Art Auction being run in collaboration with and sponsored entirely by the incredible fine art auctioneers, Woolley & Wallis, all the proceeds went directly to the charity. Coupled with many of the artists involved generously donating the full price of their works, whilst others kindly gave 50% or more of the sale price, the auction raised more than we could have ever imagined.
Of course, this is also a testament to each and every one of our wonderful bidders and supporters, all of whom were enthusiastically engaged throughout and were equally integral to raising the final phenomenal total!
It is thanks to you, every single artist and Woolley & Wallis that we will be able to continue transforming the lives of people affected by spinal injury in our gardens across the UK, bringing hope, horticulture and creativity to people’s lives just when they need it most.
