In 2019 the Women of the Year Lunch & Awards was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on Monday 14th October. The lunch, which was hosted by Horatio’s Garden London patron Mel Giedroyc, brought together over 400 women who were each handpicked for their achievements and contribution to society.

Founder and Chair of Trustees, Dr Olivia Chapple, was invited to attend this year, alongside a whole host of extraordinary women who gathered together to share their experiences. Whilst the guest list may be small, the point of the organisation has always been to celebrate every one of their guests as a ‘Woman of the Year’, with each attendee also being considered as a representation of the millions of women who make a difference every day.

The organisation and foundation was founded by the late Lady Lothian OBE with Lady Georgina Coleridge and Odette Hallowes. Their shared passion from 1955 was to honour real achievement and diversity, something which continues to guide their work today.

For over 60 years the Women of the Year organisation has recognised, celebrated and inspired women from all walks of life, shining a light on working women who have distinguished themselves in careers or communities. The annual lunch is an opportunity to hear the views of world-renowned women on important issues and to form new friendships.

Speaking after the event Olivia said, “It was great to be amongst so many inspirational women this afternoon”, which was undoubtedly a sentiment shared by many.
