Wednesday and Thursday were busy days for many people up and down the country as more Fabulous Summer Tea Party hosts welcomed their guests for a spot of afternoon tea.

We heard from five of our fantastic hosts, who all had a brilliant time fundraising with family and friends whilst munching away on many scrumptious sweet treats!

Jan Williamson held a tea party at her home in Scotland, with an impressive array of homemade sandwiches and cakes to tickle her loved ones’ tastebuds!

She spoke of how wonderfully generous her family, friends and neighbours had been, who all helped to raise a brilliant total of over £250 for the charity. Horatio’s Garden are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you and hope that you really enjoyed all those gorgeous cakes.

Simultaneously, Kay Johnson, Horatio’s Grandma, was busy in Braxted hosting a Tea Party for her friends and came up with a novel way to collect people’s donations!

Guests were quick to follow in Joanna Lumley’s footsteps by opting for a fun Tea Party twist too, opening a bottle of Pimm’s especially for the occasion.

As the party continued into the afternoon, many lovely guests whiled away the hours catching-up with each other in the garden. Despite filling the hearty watering can of donations, an exciting raffle was also held to raise further funds and everyone happily got involved thanks to the range of enticing prizes on offer. A fantastic £700 was raised by everyone who attended and we are immensely grateful for all your generosity.

The afternoon was clearly a very happy one and the collection watering can has certainly made history as far as we’re concerned!

Over in Sutton Montis, Head of Events Annabel Ward joined Sharon Scarlett at her Fabulous Tea Party, which raised over £300 for the charity. The bunting was optimistically hung despite the gathering storm clouds and thankfully the rain held off all afternoon, giving everyone the chance to appreciate the immaculate planting around them. All the cakes looked absolutely delicious too, particularly the scones – which you’ll notice opt for a cream base layer in open challenge to Anneka Rice’s #sconeswithjamfirst!

Meanwhile, whilst the rain might have been pouring in Suffolk it didn’t stop Joanna Mayer from hosting her Fabulous (Great British!) Summer Tea Party at The Old Stable B&B. Whilst admiring the garden from afar many people popped along to show their support, and Joanna was absolutely delighted to tell us that everyone raised a phenomenal £755. The afternoon was fun-filled according to guests, with many of them mentioning that they were already feeling inspired to host their very own Fabulous Tea Party next year.

Finally, Veronica Olszowski got in touch to tell us that thankfully the rain cleared up just in time for her afternoon gathering, with her sister lending her an enormous teapot just for the occasion – Joanna Lumley would certainly be proud! Guests loved spending time basking in the sunshine in Veronica’s garden, raising a grand total of over £280 for the charity.

Horatio’s Garden are so pleased to hear of all the enthusiasm for our first national fundraising week and it’s wonderful to see how your Tea Parties have brought people together. All the money you’ve raised will help us to continue planting hope for patients and their loved ones.
