The Rigaud story began in 1852 with Jean Baptiste Rigaud, who was fascinated by the world of scent. The business he created has since been passed down through generations of the Rigaud family, with responsibility for the now iconic company resting with Mario and Viviane Rigaud after the Second World War.
In the late 1950s, Mario and Viviane were inspired to combine fine fragrance with wax to create an entirely new product: the world’s first scented candle.
All Rigaud candles continue to be handmade in France with unique fragrances and the company’s patented special soft wax, which gives their candles an intensity and longevity unmatched to this day.
Everyone at Rigaud is delighted to be partnering with Horatio’s Garden, with staff at the company taking the time to note that Former First Lady, Jackie Kennedy, was one of the many people who love Rigaud. Together, she and her garden designer, Bunny Mellon, rebuilt the Rose Garden at the White House, a garden which became one of the USA’s most iconic outdoor landscapes.
