Pennant is the magazine of the Forces Pension Society and is published bi-annually containing an entertaining mix about life in the Forces, news, opinions and views, member’s feedback and much more.
In their autumn edition, they chose to feature the story of Horatio’s Garden across a generous double-page spread, which details where the charity came from and where it hopes to go in the future. The article offers readers the chance to understand more about what the charity does and why its work is so important. Not only does it detail how Horatio’s Garden helps patients and their families, it similarly illustrates that volunteers benefit from the garden and find their role in supporting everyone affected by spinal injury hugely rewarding.
Particularly interestingly, the feature introduces readers to perhaps some of the little-known benefits of the great outdoors, which have all been experienced by patients in Horatio’s Garden. Some share that simply being exposed to daylight supports their recovery as it helps them to sleep, whilst others find that the garden motivates them to go outside and helps them to regain muscle strength.
We are very grateful to Pennant for including us in their recent publication and it’s wonderful to know that readers will come away having discovered more about why the charity is close to the hearts of so many.
