Many patients and their loved ones spent Christmas in the comfort of Horatio’s Garden, spending time with each other and helping our volunteers and Head Gardeners prepare for the New Year.
In our Stoke Mandeville garden, the Christmas tree was much-appreciated by all and we are so grateful to Peterley Manor Farm for bringing a touch of magic to the lives of everyone visiting Horatio’s Garden throughout the festive season.
Meanwhile in Oswestry, patients created some wonderful winter planters using plants such as Gaultheria procumbens, Viola and Euphorbia, and layering them with bulbs. They are now scattered around and will give the garden a splash of colour until new shoots arrive in spring.
Particularly excitingly, we will soon be welcoming artists Zac Newham and Katy McIntyre-Brown to our Salisbury garden, whilst artist Rebecca Rason Flor Ferreira will be regularly visiting our Stoke Mandeville garden. All three of them will be gently encouraging visitors to the gardens to pursue their own creative endeavours and there will be plenty of gardening to do too, so we look forward to being able to share more new year stories with you soon.
