We would like to warmly welcome Alex Geaney to the office team here at the Horatio’s Garden. Whilst on her year-long placement as comms intern with us, Alex will be increasingly responsible for the charity’s external communications, which includes updating our website, managing the Horatio’s Garden social media accounts and coordinating our email newsletters and PR campaigns.
Below is a short piece she has written explaining a little more about herself and why she was interested in working with us.

“Hi! I’m Alex, the new Communications Intern for Horatio’s Garden, a position generously funded by the Rank Foundation.
I recently graduated from the University of Bristol having read History for three years.
I feel immensely privileged to have been offered this unique opportunity at Horatio’s Garden, as it perfectly combines my three major interests; the charity sector, writing, and the power of the great outdoors. I genuinely believe that Horatio’s Garden does phenomenal work, and it’s hugely exciting to be a part of a charity that inspires me, and many others, especially at a time when it is so rapidly expanding.
Having never had what my Mum would humorously call a ‘proper job’, I hope to learn much more about what it takes to ensure these organisations continue to be there for current and future generations. On a personal note, I also look forward to developing my writing, as well as interacting with patients and their families, volunteers, fundraisers, donors, and various other stakeholders.
I only hope that I can help to continue the charity’s incredible work.”

We look forward to seeing what the year holds for Alex and for Horatio’s Garden as a whole.
