Trustee Victoria Holton and volunteer Lesley Walford, both of whom have been involved with the charity since the very beginning, were incredibly honoured this week to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
The event was held by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to recognise the phenomenal achievements of volunteers throughout the UK, including our very own Horatio’s Garden team who have recently won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
As many of you will know, our volunteers are integral to the charity. Not only do they nurture the gardens throughout the year with the guidance of our Head Gardeners, they also support patients in the charity’s gentle garden and art therapy sessions. Most importantly, they are always there for patients and their loved ones, offering them warmth and kindness – and, of course, an infinite amount of tea and cake!
We are so proud of all our volunteers and you are all immensely deserving of this royal accolade.
