samir aziz tackles the welsh 3000s challenge

Samir Aziz is a fantastic fundraiser who previously completed the Winchester Half Marathon in support of us back in 2019. Now he’s returning to the fundraising fold to attempt something brand new; The Welsh 3000s Challenge.

Having fully recovered from multilevel lumbar disc pain, completing the Half Marathon was a major achievement for Samir and it’s this that’s motivated him to complete his latest notoriously tough challenge. The charity is also close to his heart, not only as a result of his personal experiences, but as he knows Horatio’s father and trustee, David Chapple, along with many others in the world of orthopaedic surgery.

Carrying the thought of those he’ll be helping with him, Samir will be completing The Welsh 3000s Challenge in the allotted 24 hours, starting on Saturday 11th September and finishing on Sunday 12th September.

The Challenge is to climb the 15 mountains in Wales that stand at a striking height of 3000 feet or more. Geographically, these fall within three ranges; The Snowdon Massif, The Glyderau and The Carneddau.

In total the journey is 50km, with nearly 4000m of ascent; certainly no easy task!

As he’s now begun his training, Samir has also started his JustGiving page. He hopes that everyone will feel ‘great joy’ when donating, with his challenge bringing people together to contribute to changing the lives of people affected by spinal injury.

He’s hoping to raise at least £1,000 for the charity, so anything you can give will not only make a huge difference, but your valuable support will also keep Samir going throughout his remarkable, gruelling challenge.

We wish Samir the best of luck and look forward to hearing all about his Welsh adventure soon!
