Whilst this year’s Fabulous Summer Tea Party has certainly been a little different to last year’s, that’s not stopped two of our wonderful Stoke Mandeville volunteers from getting involved in the fun.
Julia Bolton and Sue Yeomans recently held a few tea parties over a few days to accommodate all their guests and comply with government guidelines. Those who gathered with them in the back garden were all keen to celebrate tea, cake and friendship whatever the weather, whilst generously donating to Horatio’s Garden along the way.
Thankfully the skies remained bright and sunny for the most part, meaning everyone could enjoy some much-needed fresh air and even when the heavens opened late one afternoon, everyone managed to stay dry and agreed gardens everywhere would be benefitting from a drop of rain!
Julia, Sue and all their guests felt that their little gatherings went very well indeed and sent us some lovely photos from both days. Everyone was evidently enjoying the simple treat of being able to spend an afternoon in the company of friends, whilst the delicious sandwiches and homemade cakes made their reunion taste all the sweeter.
As Julia and Sue whiled away the hours in good company, they and their guests successfully raised over £500 for the charity. We are enormously grateful to each and every one of them and hope that we’ll be able to try one or two of those cakes on our next visit to Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville!
