Horatio’s Garden South West will be opening in support of the National Garden Scheme on Sunday 5th September from 2pm – 5pm.
As the garden is situated within a hospital, this will be a ticketed event with timed entry, with a maximum of 30 people entering hourly at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
Pre-booking is therefore essential, so to secure your tickets please click here, or simply click the ‘Buy Tickets’ button at the top of this page.
Admission costs £5 per adult, whilst children are welcome in the garden for free.
Every ticket sold goes directly towards supporting the incredible work of the National Garden Scheme.
Despite ongoing restrictions meaning that this year’s National Garden Scheme Open Day may look a little different to those previously held in the garden, this is a fantastic opportunity to see this special place as part of a small exclusive group.
The charity’s South West garden was the first to open in September 2012 and was designed by eight-time RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winner, Cleve West. Since then, the garden has received various accolades, including three Society of Garden Designers awards in 2015, whilst it was also voted the South West Regional Winner of The English Garden magazine’s ‘The Nation’s Favourite Garden’ competition in 2019.
Featuring low limestone walls representing the form of a spine which divide densely planted herbaceous beds, everything in the garden is designed to be beautiful, subtly accessible and provide year round interest.
The garden includes a stunning glasshouse, a vibrantly planted horticultural therapy area, a garden room, apple archway and calming rill, so there will be plenty for you to discover later this summer.
There will be tea and delicious homemade cake created by the charity’s volunteers available to enjoy throughout the afternoon, with all the money raised helping to support the charity. There will also be a short talk at 3pm about the value of therapeutic gardens and how this ethos is very much at the heart of Horatio’s Garden South West.
Head Gardener, Stephen Hackett, and all the charity’s volunteers are very much looking forward to seeing you in September!
