Horatio’s Garden South West is a private garden for people affected by spinal injury, so this is a rare opportunity to visit a beautiful, accessible, restorative garden created by six-time RHS Chelsea gold medal winner Cleve West.
The garden was the first Horatio’s Garden to be created and opened in September 2012. It was built from donations given in memory of Horatio Chapple, the inspiration behind the charity. Since then, the charity has grown, planting hope in NHS spinal injury centres across the UK.
The garden features low limestone walls which represent the form of the spine and divide densely planted herbaceous beds. Everything is carefully designed to benefit patients and their loved ones throughout their long stays in hospital.
Horatio’s Garden South West is a horticultural sanctuary like no other.
