This is the first of two National Garden Scheme Open Days in Horatio’s Garden London & South East, with the second taking place on Sunday 15th September 2024.
Horatio’s Garden London & South East is a private garden for people affected by spinal injury, so this is a rare opportunity to visit a beautiful, accessible, restorative garden created by eight-time RHS Chelsea gold medal winner Tom Stuart-Smith.
The garden opened in September 2020 and was partly funded by the National Garden Scheme. Like all Horatio’s Gardens, the sanctuary features smooth, level paths throughout ensuring that patients can enjoy the garden from either their hospital bed or their wheelchair. The design features a social space, private areas for patients to seek solitude or spend time with their loved ones, the calming sound of flowing water, a homely garden room, a garden therapy area and a greenhouse, as well as planting designed to encourage wildlife.
Horatio’s Garden London & South East is a horticultural sanctuary like no other.
