You may have seen that we recently launched our fantastic fundraising campaign, The Fabulous Summer Tea Party, for the third year running, which Founder & Chair of Trustees, Dr Olivia Chapple, was invited to share more about on BBC Radio Wiltshire.

Listeners who tuned into the Graham Rogers show yesterday afternoon could hear Olivia telling Graham all about the event, which is simply an opportunity to come together to appreciate the power of gardens and natural spaces whilst simultaneously celebrating family, friendship, cake and of course, tea!
As Olivia mentioned in her interview, the easing of lockdown restrictions means that this summer will be the perfect time to reunite with your loved ones whilst raising a little money along the way and by doing so, you’ll be helping patients, their loved ones and NHS staff affected by spinal injury in hospitals across the UK.
Graham was of course interested to discover more about how Joanna Lumley came to be the face of the countrywide fundraising event, with listeners undoubtedly intrigued by the same question. Olivia shared that as an ambassador and incredible supporter of the charity, Joanna was only too happy to help and simply wished to do whatever she could in an effort to encourage everyone to make a difference – whether that be by popping up some bunting and enjoying a cuppa, or opting for a little indulgence with a selection of cake and a glass of fizz!
The two also discussed the charity’s history and touched upon our various other fundraising events, including our Spring Raffle, Summer Art Auction and the very first Longford Castle Open Garden & Plant Sale. Together they successfully raised incredible awareness of all things Horatio’s Garden, despite the segment only lasting little over five minutes.
We are so grateful to the BBC Wiltshire team for featuring us and hope many of you will take up your teapots in support of the charity from June!
