We are delighted to welcome Caroline May back to Horatio’s Garden, who will this summer be our new Artist in Residence at Stoke Mandeville.

Last year Caroline was our Artist in Residence in Scotland, encouraging patients and visitors to be creative, whilst also creating numerous beautiful works herself. She recently exhibited a collection of her final pieces in Spring 2019, which you can find on her website by clicking here.

Having enjoyed her residency in Scotland she has now generously offered to turn her talents to Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville throughout the summer. Starting on Tuesday 6th August, Caroline will be in the garden each Tuesday between 12-5pm for six weeks. During this time she is hoping to work with patients and their loved ones, and also plans to create a variety of pieces which in time will be reproduced as a special collection of Horatio’s Garden notelets.

With an MA in Design Innovation and Environmental Design and a BA in Illustration, Caroline has proven herself to be an exceptionally versatile creative. She has worked on a number of live projects in various sectors, gaining a wealth of diverse experiences along the way.

Caroline’s main sources of inspiration are nature and the environment, something she attributes to growing up in the Cumbrian countryside surrounded by many stunning landscapes. Horatio’s Garden is certainly the place to further her passion for the great outdoors and we are very much looking forward to seeing both Caroline’s, and patients’, finished artworks.
