We had a rather exciting and successful day at the Oswestry Artisan Market thanks to the phenomenal efforts of Garden Administrator, Gemma Christie, and our team in Horatio’s Garden Midlands.

Throughout the spring, a host of fantastic volunteers tended a plethora of plants so that we could be part of the ‘Garden Charities’ themed market. With their horticultural expertise to rely on, every last piece of foliage looked luscious and was perfectly displayed on the day’s pretty stall.

Together, Gemma and a small group of brilliant volunteers chatted the day away, with countless people stopping not only to purchase plants but also to discover more about the charity and its work in their local community. Many were interested in what we do, some so much so that they now plan to volunteer in the garden themselves.

Aside from raising awareness, the team also raised a brilliant total of over £400 for the garden and managed to capture the interest of the town’s Mayor, Councillor Mark Jones, too! He expressed his support for the charity’s work and appreciated just how much all the money raised at the day’s event would go on to really make a difference over the coming months, particularly as we hope patients will soon be able to once again regularly spend time in Horatio’s Garden Midlands with their loved ones.

We are so grateful to Gemma for organising the event and to every volunteer who provided, tended or transported plants, as well as to everyone who helped on the day, donated or bought a little piece of Horatio’s Garden to take home with them.
